my new Bosch washer and dryer! You know you are an adult when you get excited over new appliances!
Our washer and dryer were about 15 years old. We bought our first place in 1994 when I was 19 and Jerry was 21. I was still away at college, but we were planning our wedding for October 1995. We found a place and bought it and Jerry moved into it. It came with a washer and dryer. They weren't in the same room, and the dryer was pretty much dead so we bought a new one. We still had the original washer for a while and then it died and we replaced it. The dryer was white and the washer was almond. When we moved here, I hated that they didn't match because they were together in the laundry room. I couldn't wait for the day I could have a matching set!
On Christmas Eve day, our dryer finally decided to die. It had been giving hints that it's time was about up for months and it took 2-3 cycles to completely dry everything. That drove me crazy because I do laundry daily and with 3 kids that are in sports, riding lessons, a husband that works outside and just general life on a farm, we had a lot of laundry.
I was excited to look for a new set, but not happy about the expense we were going to have to put out. I think the winter, especially around the holidays, is such a bad time for things to go wrong. That's the way it works though. Things break when you least expect it.
I spent time researching sets and became so overwhelmed with all of the options and all of the mixed reviews on every set. It was pretty frustrating.
We went in thinking we were going to get an agitatorless (is that a word) top loader. Our laundry room is on the 2nd floor and everything I read said they weren't made for the 2nd floors. We ended up with a front loading set and it's made to be used on the 2nd floor or any floor.
I'm loving my new washer and dryer so much! They make laundry so much fun, but they definitely take getting used to after using top loaders for all of my life. I think we all sat and watched the wash cycle the first few times we ran it.
Here is my old set. After the delivery guys brought them downstairs and had them in the kitchen, I realized I had never taken a picture of them before. It will be neat to look back at it someday, because they will look so foreign.
My new set! (Don't mind the laundry room, I'm getting ready to paint and redo that room)
